Ethereum community debates Foundation's new mandate document
The Ethereum Foundation's new mandate — a sweeping document released to clarify the organization's role and principles — sparked a torrent of reactions, with supporters praising it as a long-overdue articulation of the blockchain's ethos and critics saying it reinforces the foundation's hands-off approach at a time when Ethereum needs stronger leadership.

Reactions on X divided into two camps. Critics argued the mandate was overly philosophical and failed to address Ethereum's need to compete for real-world adoption, particularly as institutional interest grows. Supporters welcomed it as a reaffirmation of the network's foundational principles — among them Chris Perkins of CoinFund, who said it clarifies the foundation's purpose as a nonprofit steward, and Nethermind, which said it reflects properties institutional buyers already look for in blockchain infrastructure.
World launches AgentKit to prove a human is behind every AI transaction
Sam Altman-backed identity project World (formerly WorldCoin) rolled out AgentKit, a developer toolkit that allows AI agents to carry cryptographic proof they are backed by a unique human, using its World ID system. The product integrates with x402, a protocol developed by Coinbase and Cloudflare that enables stablecoin micropayments between AI agents without human intervention. As AI agents increasingly transact and act autonomously online — a market projected to reach $3–$5 trillion by 2030 — the question of verified human backing becomes central to the ecosystem.
Coinbase founder Brian Armstrong predicts there will soon be more AI agents than humans making transactions on the internet. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao went further, forecasting agents will make one million times more payments than people — all in crypto. The core argument is structural: AI agents can't open bank accounts because banks require identity verification that software cannot provide, whereas a crypto wallet only needs a private key. That asymmetry, combined with the economics of micro-transactions between agents, is reshaping what payments infrastructure needs to look like.
Autonomous AI agents are emerging as powerful tools for trading prediction markets, particularly for retail users trying to compete in an increasingly automated environment. Valory AG's protocol Olas is designed as infrastructure for autonomous agents that run services on blockchains, interact with smart contracts, and cooperate with one another while earning crypto rewards. Its latest experiment, Polystrat, is an AI agent launched on Polymarket that trades on behalf of users around the clock — executing strategies continuously while humans sleep, work, or lose focus.
The market is holding its breath as the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision looms. Bitcoin is consolidating just under its recent six-week high, while Ethereum sits in a high-tension "liquidation sandwich" that could trigger massive volatility during Chair Powell's press conference.
Powell's comments on oil, inflation are likely to guide bitcoin traders
Bitcoin and the wider crypto market are taking a breather in advance of today's Federal Reserve rate decision, which could confirm that the interest-rate backdrop is becoming less of a tailwind.
Implication: The central bank is widely expected to keep the benchmark borrowing cost unchanged in the 3.5%-3.75% range, putting the focus on growth and inflation projections as well as Chairman Jerome Powell's comments at the post-meeting press conference.
Ethereum sandwiched between $5B in potential liquidations
On-chain data today reveals that ETH is trading in a lethal liquidation zone. Roughly $1.16 billion in short positions will be wiped out if ETH rallies 10%, while a staggering $4.18 billion in longs are at risk if price drops 10%
Implication: This massive imbalance suggests that a "long squeeze" is the path of least resistance if Powell's tone is hawkish today. However, if the Fed signals an end to energy-driven inflation, the resulting short squeeze could catapult ETH toward $3,000 by the weekend.
Ripple's $750M buyback fuels IPO ambitions & Australian license play
CoinDesk reports that Ripple has initiated a $750 million share buyback at a $50 billion valuation. Simultaneously, the firm is acquiring BC Payments Australia to secure a local financial license.
Implication: By cleaning up its cap table and expanding its global regulatory footprint, Ripple is signaling it is finally ready for a public listing. This provides a fundamental "floor" for XRP, which is outperforming the majors this morning.
