1. Bitcoin crossed $9,000 today for the first time since May 10th, 2018. Shortly after reaching the $9,000 barrier, bitcoin retreated and is currently sitting at $8,612.49 with a market cap of $153 billion. For the week, bitcoin is up 14% as it continues its monthly bullish trend. The top 5 cryptocurrencies by market cap -- Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Bitcoin Cash, and EOS -- all have positive weekly gains. -COIN TELEGRAPH

2. Bitcoin SV has nearly doubled in price the last 24 hours to $240 per coin after a fake report reportedly persuaded investors to purchase the cryptocurrency. Scammers posing as the Chinese news site Coinbull claimed that Craig Wright transferred Bitcoin from the Satoshi wallet to Binance. That claim would infer that Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto. The tweet released by Coinbull was translated from Chinese and stated, "CSW transferred 50k BTC from the biggest BTC wallet to Binance, which confirmed he is the real Satoshi. As such CZ will re-list BSV and make an official apology on Twitter." Some investors took that as a signal to buy with the coin's volume and market cap skyrocketing. -BITCOINIST

3. By The Numbers: The Bitcoin mining hash rate has approached levels not seen since August 2018. The hash rate is currently at 58,000,000 TH/s and is on pace to pass the 2018 high of 60,000,000 TH/s. Along with the increase in hash rate is the appreciation of transaction rewards which rose from under $5 million a day to $20 million a day. Transactions fees on Bitcoin have also spiked going from $63,000 a day in March to over $1 million a day the past few weeks. -COIN RIVET

4. The Associated Press Stylebook added cryptocurrency terms that included Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin to its user guide. The stylebook, which is seen as gospel for traditional media, tweeted, "Capitalize when referring to Bitcoin and other currencies as a system, but lowercase when referring to their use as payment: The government wants to regulate Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies. He bought a vacuum cleaner online using bitcoins." Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, took notice and preferred that Ether keep the same term for singular and plural meanings saying, "I think we favor 'ether' for the cryptocurrency, plural also ether. So: 'the price of ether is stable today', 'I paid him 5 ether for the banana', 'my favorite cryptocurrency is ether'." -AMB CRYPTO
