The Gemini exchange partnered with Mastercard for an upcoming cryptocurrency rewards credit card. The official announcement by Mastercard touted plans for real-time rewards on purchases instead of the typical monthly rewards payments. More: The Gemini Credit Card claims to offer up to 3% cashback in more than 30 cryptocurrencies directly to the user’s Gemini accounts. The card will likely be released in the U.S. this summer, with priority giving to users who sign up for a waitlist. Mastercard has been heavily expanding into the crypto market in recent months. In February it announced plans to allow merchants to accept cryptocurrency payments.

Tesla’s Q1 earnings report showed a sale of $272M worth of bitcoin on their balance sheet earlier this year. Under the category "proceeds from sales of digital assets," the EV company reported the sale of around 18% of its total bitcoin holdings. More: Tesla first included bitcoin on its balance sheet in February when it disclosed the purchase of $1.5B in BTC to the SEC. Tesla reportedly used Coinbase’s prime brokerage arm to facilitate the purchase. Last month, Tesla said it will accept bitcoin as payment.  CFO Zach Kirkhorn stated that Tesla believes in the long-term value of bitcoin and intends to hold “long-term” and “continue to accumulate bitcoin” from customer transactions.

🍋 FRESH FUNDING 🍋 ZenGo, crypto infrastructure: $20M. The Series A funding round for the non-custodial crypto wallet provider was led by Insight Partners, with additional participation from Austin Rief Ventures, Distributed Global, and others. More: Having previously received $4M in a seed funding round back in 2019, ZenGo has raised a total of $24M to date. ZenGo implements “Keyless Wallet technology” through multi-party computation instead of the traditionally implemented private key system used by other crypto wallets. The company added 100K new customers in just the past quarter and now has over 200K customers in the U.S., Canada, France, Nigeria, and Australia. Concordium, blockchain technologies: $36M. The privacy-focused blockchain company raised $36M during their fourth private placement round to date. More: Following this latest round of funding, Concordium is valued at $1.45B. Concordium develops blockchain technology to provide businesses with regulatory compliance and privacy solutions.
