Goldman Sachs releases new crypto report / Coinbase expands its services / SDO destabilized after hack

Goldman Sachs released a report on the state of crypto. “Digital Assets: Beauty is Not in the Eye of the Beholder” covers topics including bitcoin, blockchain technologies, and Web 3.0. More: The report cites Social Networks, Arts & Entertainment, Ticket Sales, and Web Browsers as areas most likely to be affected by Web 3.0 development. Dfinity’s Internet Computer (ICP) jumped 15% following its inclusion as an “innovative technology” in the report. Despite a positive sentiment on crypto, Goldman nonetheless maintained that they do not believe crypto as an asset class adds value to client portfolios at this time.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong revealed his vision to have Coinbase list every asset in every country possible. The statement arrived as Coinbase reviews the inclusion of an additional 63 assets on its exchange. More: Coinbase received approval from German legislators to offer crypto custody in Germany. The company additionally completed a successful registration with the Japanese Financial Services Agency. Coinbase’s approval in Japan was almost simultaneous with Japan’s second warning to Binance for operating without registration.

Algorithmic stablecoin SafeDollar (SDO) destabilized after hackers exploited a vulnerability to mint 831 Quadrillion SDO. The SafeDollar incident comes just a week after a similar hack collapsed Iron Finance’s algorithmic stablecoin. More: The incident drained nearly $250,000 from SafeDollar's liquidity pools. SafeDollar launched on the Polygon blockchain through PolyDEX on June 14. The algorithmic protocol experienced an incident last week that compromised its $95K IDO vault.  The SafeDollar team is currently investigating the attack and assured that they would publish a post-mortem report.
