Protests intensified in El Salvador following President Bukele’s bitcoin law taking effect. Many of the citizens protesting are concerned over the price volatility of bitcoin (BTC). More:  The number of protestors outside of the capital grew following the 10% drop in bitcoin’s price immediately after the law was officially enacted. Armed riot police were deployed on a protest that marched to the country’s capital. Jack Maller, the company’s CEO behind El Salvador’s bitcoin infrastructure, Strike, countered volatility claims by explaining that the Chivo wallet enables transactions and holdings in both dollars and bitcoin. During the 2021 Bitcoin Conference, Bukele claimed that recognizing bitcoin as legal tender would support 70% of Salvadorians who are unbanked and improve the accessibility of remittances.

Axie Infinity’s sales volume increased 7% this week despite an overall drop in NFT sales. The total NFT market sales volume fell to $129M from last week’s highs of $882M. More: Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), CryptoPunks and Art Blocks saw an overall decline between 44% and 82%. Average NFT prices have also dropped. BAYC dropped $67K on average, and Cryptopunks dropped $70K.   Similar to Axie Infinity, Monkey Bet DAO has also seen an increase in sales volume over the past week, increasing 225%.

🍋 Fresh Funding🍋  ADAlend.finance: DeFi/Lending: $540K ⮕ The private token sale funding round closed in under an hour after seven angel investors purchased the 1.8M ADAL allocation. More: ADAlend is a DeFi lending protocol on the Cardano blockchain, governed by a DAO. The funding round was 400% oversubscribed and launched ahead of Cardano’s Alonzo upgrade. Investors who were unable to purchase ADAL during the seed stage were whitelisted for an upcoming private sale.

Bain Capital Ventures' $1.3B crypto-focused investment fund has yet to invest. BCV Crypto Fund I revealed in a filing that it hasn’t participated in any funding rounds since its inception back in March. More: Bain Capital has previously invested in projects like Digital Currency Group, Compound, Lolli and others. Just before the fund was created, Bain Capital co-led Blockfi’s $350M Series D funding round. The funding was set up to invest across two different funds focused on seed A and Series A funding deals. It is unclear at this time why the firm has continually held onto its funds.

Swiss exchange SIX received approval to operate a digital securities marketplace. The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) decision was four years in the making for SIX. More: FINMA released a statement saying they had approved two market infrastructures developed on “Distributed Ledger Technology.” The other approval was for SIX associated SDX Trading AG, which will operate as a blockchain-based stock exchange. The approval marks the first license issued in Switzerland for digital securities and tokenized settlement.

44% of Americans age 25-34 support the adoption of bitcoin as legal tender, research from analytics firm YouGov found. 43% of boomers strongly opposed it, seeing a total of 27% of Americans in support. More: 11% of Americans 25-34 expressed that they “strongly support” the adoption, and 16% somewhat supported it. Democrats were slightly more in favor of adoption (29%) compared to Republicans (26%). Income was another key factor in YouGov’s findings: Those making >$80K were 2x more likely to support bitcoin adoption than those earning < $40K. The survey was conducted on a population size of 4,912 U.S. residents.
