1. Bitcoin Twitter has been abuzz the past two days over a nine-year-old quote from bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto. The account @NakamotoQuotes tweeted, "Imagine if gold turned to lead when stolen. If the thief gives it back, it turns to gold again," which Nakamoto wrote in 2010 in a BitcoinTalk forum post. It made the crypto community wonder if Nakamoto either created, or at least considered, a kill switch for stolen bitcoins. That led to a debate about how the switch would work and how it would impact hardware wallets and private keys. We may never truly know, as Nakamoto disappeared from the Internet a few months after writing the post. –NEWS BTC

2. Six of the seven responses to the US Securities and Exchange Commission urged the agency to reject a bitcoin ETF. The comments came in response to the resubmitted ETF proposal from VanEck. "I can see a lot of people getting hurt both financially and in other ways by you accepting this proposal," wrote Dina Pinto. "It is in my humble opinion that this proposal be rejected." The SEC received more than 1,400 responses for the first VanEck proposal, which was pulled back during the government shutdown. –CCN

Three of the banks have been identified – Philippines-based RCBC, Brazil's Banco Bradesco, and Bank Busan of South Korea - while the other three will be released soon. The network uses the Stellar public blockchain to let regulated institutions move value across borders more quickly and cheaply than legacy correspondent banking systems. –COINDESK

4. Bithumb, one of the largest exchanges in South Korea, plans to cut its staff from 310 to about 150. A company official confirmed the layoffs, adding that many of the employees slated to be cut already want to leave the company. The move comes as other cryptocurrency companies reduce workforces as well. The company behind the cryptocurrency project Dash reduced staffing levels earlier this month and the smart contracting firm Hosho said it would lay off 80 percent of its staff. –THE BLOCK
