1. In a letter to the New York Attorney General, Tether's general counsel says that its USDT stable coin is only 74% backed by fiat equivalents. After being accused by the New York AG of using illicit transactions to cover internal shortfalls, Tether's lawyer states that that the company only holds $2.1 billion in cash and short-term securities compared to its 2.8 billion USDT tokens that are currently issued. -COIN DESK

2. FedEx Chief Investment Officer Rob Carter expects blockchain to become an inevitable and essential tool in tracking goods and reducing fraud in the supply chain. Carter has called on regulators to implement standards and rules that could help to drive the adoption of blockchain throughout the industry. The Blockchain in Transport Alliance, in which FedEx is a member along with its rivals DHL and UPS, is an industry organization that is working on developing common standards around the blockchain for the transportation industry. -WALL STREET JOURNAL

3. Consensys partner Breaker Magazine, a crypto dedicated publication, will shut down its operations effective immediately. The magazine, which launched late last year, had a high burn rate and never found a profitable business plan. It was run by tech author Ben Schiller and was known for its in-depth long-form deep dives on the crypto industry, including an investigative story of pay-for-play involving multiple other media outlets. -THE BLOCK CRYPTO

4. NASDAQ will add XRP to its cryptocurrency index, starting on Wednesday. Real-time index information for XRP will be available on the XRP Liquid Index, which will offer a spot or reference rate for the price of XRP in USD. The listing will be streamed on the Nasdaq Global Index Data Service, which has data going back to 2014 and is refreshed every 5 minutes. XRP joins bitcoin and ether as the two other coins that are listed on the Nasdaq Global Index Data Service. -COIN DESK
