JPMorgan Chase is reportedly planning to launch a bitcoin fund this summer. While not officially announced, several sources have revealed JPM’s plans – which include a partnership with NYDIG. More: JPM’s decision to launch a bitcoin fund comes after Morgan Stanley offered three bitcoin funds for wealthy clients. JPM already has an indirect crypto investment product that gives investors the ability to invest in crypto-forward companies like MicroStrategy, NVIDIA, PayPal, and Riot Blockchain. Despite a previously negative sentiment toward bitcoin, JPM has changed its tune. A recent note published by the bank had a long-term price target of $130K for the cryptocurrency.

Ant Group, the Chinese tech company behind Alibaba, has been involved with the PBoC CBDC project for over three years. The news was revealed during this past weekend's Digital China Summit. More: China’s digital currency institute has publicly worked with Ant in the past. In June 2019, the institute began using Ant’s mobile app development platform mPaaS. Speakers at the Digital China Summit revealed that private companies had been China’s key for its accelerated development of the digital yuan CBDC. Tencent is reportedly also involved in the CBDC project, putting together an expert team as early as February 2018 to help with the development process.

🍋 FRESH FUNDING 🍋 Blockchain-based compliance tools firm Securrency raised $30M in a Series B funding round backed by WisdomTree Investments, State Street, U.S. Bank, and Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners. More: Other investors in the funding round included Mubadala Investment and Falcon Edge Capital. CEO and co-founder Dan Doney says the company recently applied for licenses to establish Securrency in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). Securrency develops DeFi and other crypto products, focusing on compliance with both US and international regulations. Including this recent Series B, Securrency has raised a total of $64M in funding to date.
