Q2 venture funding for blockchain and crypto projects jumped 90% from Q1. A total of 497 crypto projects received venture funding in Q2 alone. More: Early-stage and seed deals accounted for a total of 373 out of the 497 funding rounds. The total funding amount for all crypto projects was nearly $16B. Block.one’s investment in the Bullish crypto exchange accounted for $9.7B in funding.

South Korea’s Woori Financial Group announced a joint venture with Coinplug. “D-Custody” will be focused on providing custodial services for crypto. More: Woori is one of the largest banks in the country and the third major banking group in Korea to offer crypto custody services. Coinplug, a crypto and fintech solutions provider also based in South Korea, will take the greatest stake in the new venture. The new joint venture was announced despite an increase in crypto-related regulations from the South Korean government.

A recent JPMorgan report warned of potential bitcoin network issues from El Salvador’s adoption of BTC as legal tender. The report, however, failed to consider the upcoming Lightning Network upgrade.
