[Newsletter] ICON 2018 2Q achievement

Greetings from the ICON Team,

Things move fast in the crypto space, and while we've had our heads down working the second half of 2018 is already upon us. In this newsletter, we'll take the time to go over some exciting achievements from Q2 of 2018.

Key Performance in the Second Quarter of 2018

Over the past quarter, ICON has secured several partnerships and theloop has on-boarded new clients with interesting use-cases. ICON has also had a presence at events all over the world, talking to developers and other projects about how to best grow the blockchain ecosystem. Last, but certainly not least, we have initiated the token swap process allowing for the main net to show its strength to the public.

Let's take a closer look at some specific examples of ICON's success during Q2 2018.

ICON's core blockchain engine, loopchain, has entered into a wide range of partnerships and MOUs to enable real-world use-cases of blockchain technology.

ChainID, the world's first blockchain-based joint authentication service based on loopchain, will be utilized in conjunction with Samsung Pass in many new Samsung smartphones. theloop also created "Smart Insurance Claims" for Kyobo Life Insurance, a Korean health insurance company headquartered in Seoul. The Smart Insurance Claims were well-received by Kyobo Life clients, and theloop has signed an MOU with Kyobo to continue pursuing efficiencies in the insurance industry

Through the MOU with E4net, which has governments and banking institutions as its primary clients, we have been able to lay the foundations on which loopchain can be applied in a wide variety of areas. Based on these practical applications, we have expanded our loopchain business and have applied loopchain technology to the customs clearance procedures of Korea Customs Services.

ICON's vision to "Hyperconnect the World" is on its way to becoming a reality as theloop continues to meet strong demand with strong results. While theloop continues to find practical use-cases of blockchain technology at the enterprise level, we hope to see organic and legitimate demand for the use of the ICON public blockchain to allow communication between all these enterprise consortiums.

ICON has made great efforts to strengthen and expand the blockchain ecosystem. We partnered with AD4TH, a leading adtech company in Korea, to setup Deblock, an accelerator focused on growing the ICON ecosystem. Deblock will be a valuable resource to developers in Korea looking to launch a project on the ICON blockchain.

We also signed a strategic partnership with B-Cryptos, Japan's first crypto fund, to help support the growth of the blockchain ecosystem in Japan.

While investment is important, so is education. With this idea in mind, we partnered with TRIVE, a venture capital firm based in Singapore, to create an ICON-focused curriculum at TRIVE's programming schools in Southeast Asia.

Another exciting partnership from the second quarter of 2018 was the joint-venture with LINE PLUS, a global social platform with over 200 million monthly active users worldwide, to launch Unchain. Unchain will be the underlying blockchain for decentralized applications launched by ICON and/or Unblock, LINE's subsidiary dedicated to blockchain research.

ICON has also made excellent progress in terms of DApp development. Carboneum, a decentralized infrastructure and protocol for social trading, and Bodhi, a prediction market originally built on Qtum, have both signed partnerships with ICON to build their application on the ICON blockchain.

ICON will continue to build a healthy ecosystem through aggressively sourcing quality DApps and building synergies through strategic partnerships.

ICON has strived to meet with ICONers from around the world to show gratitude for the support from the community.

The first major event of Q2 was Asia Crypto Night, followed shortly thereafter by Consensus 2018, which was one of the largest blockchain events of the year; boasting more than 8,500 attendees. During Consensus, ICON displayed a few recent product releases, we gave away several hundred ICX to a few lucky participants, and discussed our upcoming milestones with conference attendees.

In addition to conferences and meetups, ICON has also been hosting the New Kids on the Block(chain) Demo Day on a monthly basis since April. This demo day is an excellent opportunity to source DApp projects and give members of the community the chance to pitch their idea to industry veterans.

Whether it's through demo days, conferences, hackathons, or meetups, ICON shoots to be the project that shows gratitude towards the community.

In the second quarter of 2018 ICON released both ICONest, the token launch platform, and the Android mobile wallet (iOS version coming soon).

The token swap, which welcomes everybody to the full-fledged ICON main net era, has been going on through the major exchanges and ICONex since the end June. Moving away from the ERC20 tokens, we are stepping closer to our vision to "Hyperconnect the World", including the implementation of various DApp projects on our own ICON platform.

Q2 2018 showcased the strength of the ICON team, and we look forward to continuing to prove our capabilities through the rest of the year. Thank you for your continued support and interest in ICON.

Thank you,

Hyperconnect the World
ICON team
