We're just a few days out from New Zealand's Premier Blockchain Event. Last weekend almost 100 people attended the Blockworks Hackfest, developing some brilliant commercial applications for Blockchain.
 
Blockworks is all about helping business and technology leaders understand how Blockchain could solve business problems and create new competitive advantages. 
 
On Thursday we're hosting five 90 minute workshops at ASB Waterfront theatre with Aaron McDonald and his team from Centrality.AI ecosystem including, PL^G, Singlesource and Sylo, Savannah Peterson's Beginners Guide, Michael Williams from Microsoft, Michal Proper from ClearFoundation plus Natasha Blycha from Law firm Herbert Smith Freehills and IBM's Paul Hutchison close out with the Chicken and Egg debate. On Friday the main conference starts at 8.45am with the Chairman of the New Zealand Blockchain Association, Mark Pascall and includes two panel discussions on Digital Identity and Smart Cities. 
 
The Smart Cities panel will begin around 2.45pm with Andy Higgs from Centrality.AI, Boyd Cohen from the Smart Cities Alliance, Marianne Archibald - CE Whanganui Chamber of Commerce, Matt Montgomery, Head of Innovation at Auckland Council and Viv Beck Chief Executive at Heart of the City.
 
Digital Identity sits at the heart of many Blockchain platforms and applications so this panel at 4.45pm is sure to fire up some debate. The Panel features Kelvin Chandran - Single Source, Datacom's Head of Digital Identity, Frith Tweedie Digital Law Leader at EY Law, and Katherine Noall CEO of Sphere Identity.

Successful launch of Everest v1.0, Developer Portal, Presenting at Google Warsaw, and more! - IOST Bi-Weekly update: 8/10/18

IOST UPDATE OCTOBER 8th 2018


Hi 
 it's been another busy 2 weeks for the IOST team. The big news came with the on-schedule release of Everest v1.0 which included JavaScript support, a redesigned virtual machine, multiversion concurrency control, and much more! We also were listed on an exchange, spoke at the google campus in Warsaw, and launched our brand new developer portal. Read on for a full update on everything IOST! 

LAUNCH OF EVEREST TESTNET v1.0

We are excited to announce the successful launch of Everest v1.0! Featuring Javascript support, smart contract DNS, Multiversion Concurrency Control and a new Virtual Machine - Everest v1.0 clocks in at 10x faster than EOS and 200x faster than Ethereum. We are also proud to release the IOST Developer Portal alongside Everest v1.0. The portal has extensive documentation for setting up a node on the IOST network and developing on Everest. We encourage all developers to also join our new Developer Slack Channel. This forum will allow you to dialogue directly with the IOST tech team to discuss the IOST blockchain!

HOW IOST IS DESIGNING A BETTER VIRTUAL MACHINE

Following the successful launch of Everest v1.0 - Li Haifeng, lead engineer at IOST - shared his expertise on the Ethereum and EOS virtual machines, and gave insight into IOST's design choices for Everest on Hackernoon. The article delves into smart contract design and security levels, and goes in depth on the differences between the major platform coins and IOST. GOOGLE CAMPUS WARSAW

IOST European Community Manager Aaron Cunningham gave a well received talk about Consensus Mechanisms and Scalability, including IOST's own Proof of Believability, at the Google campus in Warsaw. The event was put together by WickedCrypto and also featured Everipedia and Luno. Video of the talk will be released in near future!

WORLD KNOWLEDGE FORUM

It was announced that on October 10th at the 2018 World Knowledge Forum, IOST CEO Jimmy Zhong will be speaking on a panel alongside Sheila Warren - World Economic Forum Project Head for Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology, Halsey Minor - Co-founder of Salesforce, Richard Ma - CEO of Quantstamp and Jason Hsu - Member of the Taiwanese Parliament. The Panel will be moderated by Antony Lewis - Director of Research at R3, and will focus on why blockchain has emerged as the next big technology. 

IOST CTO TERRENCE WANG REDDIT AMA

IOST CTO Terrence Wang conducted a Reddit AMA on October 5th and answered questions ranging from the pros and cons of using V8 to why the development team chose JavaScript to whether IOST will be creating its own version of Metamask. IOST LISTED ON LIVECOIN

In our continued European expansion, IOST is pleased to announce that we have officially been listed on Livecoin, one of Russia's biggest exchanges! IOST is planning more Russian outreach in the near future.

BTCN TV ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

IOST SEA Lead Lawrence participated in a roundtable discussion on BTCN TV, speaking on why blockchain matters, how IOST can drive corporate adoption of blockchain technology, and why blockchain will be a crucial technology for the future of many industries.

BLOCKCHAIN DAY AT THE PARIS STOCK EXCHANGE

On October 10th, European Lead Leeho Lim will be participating in a roundtable discussion titled "Smart Contracts, Traceability & Product Quality" at the Paris Stock Exchange. He will be joined by Marc Gardette - Director of Microsoft France, Indranil Ghosh - Deputy Directing Manager at Solea, and Yanislav Malahov - Founder of Aeternity. It promises to be a fascinating discussion!
