Eurex announced plans to launch bitcoin exchange-traded notes (ETN). The BTC derivatives will be available for E.U. investors as early as mid-September. More: - Eurex, the directives arm of Deutsche Börse Group, stated that the product complies with the E.U.'s centrally cleared environment.
- Futures contracts will both be traded and settled in euros.
- The ETN will track the BTCetc Bitcoin Exchange Traded Crypto listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The SEC settled with three BitConnect promoters for BitCoinnect’s BTC-themed Ponzi scheme. The settlement will require a total payout of $3.5M, 190 BTC, and prejudgment interest. More: - While none of the three promoters admitted to the alleged crimes, the court purported that BitConnect operated a Ponzi scheme in 2017 that cost investors $2.6B.
- The SEC first brought charges against BitConnect for securities law violations but grew the case to fraud after further investigation.
- Other BitConnect related hearings are continuing internationally, with a trial currently underway in Australia.
