June Monthly Recap

Hey there,

it's time for our monthly newsletter!

Welcome to our newly designed newsletter template! Here's a look at what we've accomplished in the month of June.

Lisk Core 2.0.0's 1st release candidate was deployed to Testnet on June 24th.

Bugs spotted on Testnet thanks to community members cc001 and kplusq, which prompted the development of the 2nd release candidate.

Lisk Core 2.0.0's release to Mainnet requires a soft fork with an extended period of 14 days given to node operators to update their nodes.

Lisk Core 2.1.0 reached the QA phase and most of the initial features planned for the Alpha SDK have been completed.

Lisk SDK 2.2.0's QA has been suspended as we investigate bugs found in Lisk Core 2.0.0 on Testnet — we expect it to resume after the outstanding work on previous releases has been completed.

Lisk SDK 3.0.0 is currently in development. It implements the new secure Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus which guarantees block finality.

Lisk SDK: We built a simple Proof of Concept application using the Alpha SDK. The goal of this application is to get developers more familiar with example code.

New P2P features from LIP-0004 have been implemented to improve network security, performance, and allow for an essentially unlimited number of nodes on the network.

On June 4, we updated our Development Roadmap at Lisk.io/Roadmap and wrote about those changes in this Reddit thread.

Lisk remains in the top 5 on cryptomiso.com for all time filters.

Lisk Hub 1.19.0's 1st release candidate was deployed this week with BTC support and completed redesign.

Lisk Hub 1.18.0 was released with Trezor Model T hardware support among other features.

Lisk Mobile 1.2.0 was also released this week, marking the completion of the redesign.

Foundation

⬩  Lisk co-organized an event with CV Labs about blockchain regulations on June 25. Foundation Council Member Benedikt Schupli and Managing Director Guido Schmitz-Krummacher spoke on a panel with Bitcoin Suisse AG, IOHK and SEBA Crypto AG.

⬩ PSA: The Lisk Foundation transferred all its Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV holdings to Bitcoin Suisse AG (@BitcoinSuisseAG). The current plan is to gradually liquidate them.

LSK Research

⬩  Published LIP-0016 which is named "implement fee estimation algorithm for dynamic fee system".

⬩  We updated the submission guidelines for Lisk Improvement Proposals.

Community Builders

⬩
SDK Configurator GUI by Moosty is a convenient tool to setup and configure attributes for the SDK.

⬩  @LemiiDelegate has recently gone full time developing tools and solutions for Lisk. He's so far created 6 tools.

⬩  Lemii continues his work on ScanBlocks, a tool to calculate passive income from staking.

⬩  Endro added a delegate contributions feature to Lisk Discovery.

⬩  We would also like to thank community member Davinet for their ideas on improvements to our Consensus mechanism, read the discussion here.

⬩  Community member cc001 spotted a bug on Lisk Core 2.0.0's Testnet.

⬩  Community member kplsq submitted a Lisk Core 2.0.0 issue to the Bug Bounty Program which the team assigned a medium severity level.

AtomicDEX Revealed: a multicoin wallet + DEX hybrid

July 5, 2019

AtomicDEX Enters Public Beta

We are very excited to announce the public beta phase of AtomicDEX, the industry's only mobile-native decentralized exchange built on anything-to-anything, asset-agnostic atomic swaps. This represents a generational change in atomic swap technology.

The AtomicDEX story goes back all the way to 2014 when our vision about a decentralized exchange was born. Indeed, the current version represents our third generation DEX protocol. It goes beyond a wallet and the original scope as we have built an entire solution that empowers anyone to build a product relying on our technology backend.
  • AtomicDEX is also a wallet that is compatible with most protocols, such as BTC/ETH/ERC
  • AtomicDEX uses libtorrent protocol to connect users who have agreed upon a trade.
  • Once a match is found the trade settlements happen through a cross-chain atomic swap
We are releasing a test version of AtomicDEX on Android and iOS for a limited number of beta testers. The purpose is general bug hunting and further optimizations to the atomic swap backend.

Help us make AtomicDEX a better product, and join us as we continue to revolutionize the blockchain space.

Exclusive AtomicDEX Coverage By Decrypt

It is just like the Decrypt's article headline reads: "AtomicDEX's beta launch means atomic swaps are coming to a phone near you".

We are one step closer to a more interconnected user experience where everyone will be able to move and manage cryptocurrencies and blockchain tokens within a single interface. The process of an atomic swap was well explained by Tim Copeland:

An atomic swap is when a cryptocurrency is directly traded for another cryptocurrency, without any third party being involved to handle the funds. As such, the whole trade is performed on-chain

Note that with AtomicDEX you will be controlling the real privatekeys of each coin you hold. The trading does not happen through a proxy like on the currently dominant proxy token DEX model.

Antara Framework AMA Was A Big Success

A month ago on June 3rd, we introduced Antara, An End-To-End Smart Chain Development Framework.

We had released a limited amount of information and knew that there would be a lot of questions. We decided to host an AMA to properly inform our community about what is coming.

There were tons of good questions ranging from Antara, to rebrand, to development. We compiled some of the answers into a blog post.

A Major Ecosystem Growth Milestone: K64 Blockchain Conference

Komodore64 is a Dutch video game company using Komodo technology to build a gaming software development kit (SDK) as well as several blockchain-based games.

They have become a well-known project within the Komodo ecosystem and they just held a Blockchain Conference in The Hague, Netherlands. Several other ecosystem projects were represented as well, such as Verus and Pirate.

In-Depth Look Into Atomic Swap History

Continuing with a strong atomic swap theme, we decided to publish extensive research about the history and origins of the cross-chain atomic swap technology. The research was made for journalists, researchers, and analysts.

The commentary is intended to be an informative launching point into one's own investigation into the world of atomic swaps.

Towards Independence And Komodo Vision

Komodo has had a long-standing vision about creating an open platform with maximum developer freedom and independence. Finally, it is all coming together and we are closer than ever.

Token trading and exchange is a major part of our ecosystem vision as users would no longer have to give up control over their privatekeys. With the AtomicDEX Wallet, we are able to hand trustless trading capability to our ecosystem as well as to the greater blockchain industry.

Another key aspect in our vision is a multi-chain ecosystem of sovereign blockchains. That will be made a reality by Antara Framework that will be launched together with our rebrand on July 15, 2019.
