1. Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein said bitcoin is “not for me” in a recent interview. Blankfein has taken a more moderate approach to bitcoin, at least compared to other traditional bankers. He was asked about bitcoin during an appearance at the Economic Club of New York and simply said, “I don’t do it. I don’t own bitcoin.” With that said, Goldman Sachs has reportedly developed plans for a bitcoin futures trading operation. -COINDESK

2. South Korean bitcoin exchange Bithump said $32 million in cryptocurrencies was stolen from its platform. The company posted a notice on its website about the theft, and suspended all customer deposits and withdrawals while it reviews the situation. Bithump said it will compensate the loss from its own funds, and that all customer assets have been securely saved in the company’s cold wallet. -CNN

3. John McAfee will no longer recommend ICOs following the SEC’s announcement that bitcoin and ether are not securities. While the SEC ruling was seen as a victory for the crypto community it was still enough to spook McAfee who took to Twitter to explain his reasoning. “Due to SEC threats, I am no longer working with ICOs nor am I recommending them, and those doing ICOs can all look forward to arrest,” he wrote. “It is unjust but it is reality. 4. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong wrote a letter to new employees telling them not to panic over bitcoin’s price drop this year. Armstrong said that these types of price dips are common in the cryptocurrency world. Instead, the company should focus on finding ways to better itself while the rest of the industry frets about the price. 6. Anheuser-Busch InBev will use blockchain to shake up digital advertising supply chains. The world’s largest brewer launched its first ad campaigns through the Kiip mobile marketing app. Kiip uses ethereum’s blockchain to record and track data.
