1. The New York Times has created a special section on bitcoin and cryptocurrency. 2. The Sacramento Kings plan to mine ethereum for charity. In doing so, the Kings would become the first professional sports team to mine cryptocurrency. Called MiningForGood, the Kings will install cryptocurrency mining equipment in their area with fuds supporting Sacramento-based causes. “Opportunity begins when technology allows the world to find innovative solutions to complex problems,” team owner Vivek Ranadive said. “Through MiningForGood, not only will we raise funds to help with workforce development and training, we aim to inspire the next generation of tinkerers and thinkers to create change in their own community and around the globe.” -BITCOINIST

3. Jonathan Wheeler, a former Goldman Sachs employee, has a radical plan to get bitcoin in the hands of Venezuelan citizens. Wheeler has been working on a new mobile app called Azul that when complete will allow for a massive airdrop of cryptocurrency to Venezuelan citizens. The goal is to use bitcoin to quell an economic crisis in the country, where people have found it difficult to pay for necessities like food. Wheeler has been mostly quiet about the exact details of his plan, which he hopes to put in motion by the end of this year. -COINDESK

4. Bitcoin.org contributor David Harding has released a summary of “known problems” in the original bitcoin whitepaper. The article highlights the cryptocurrency’s metamorphosis in the early years of its existence. He also posted documentation on GitHub that includes changes in terminology used to describe various activities within the bitcoin ecosystem. Of all the differences from the original paper, the biggest comes in bitcoin’s Proof-of-Work algorithm. 5. High Fidelity, a virtual reality startup that uses blockchain, has raised $35 million in a recent round of funding. The company, founded by the co-creator of Second Life, is building the framework for a linked user of user-generated worlds where people can meet in VR. The universe will use blockchain as a way for users to own the digital goods they have purchased. 6. The US Securities and Exchange Commission wants comments on another potential bitcoin-based ETF. Under the proposal, Cboe would list and trade the SolidX Bitcoin Shares. VanEck SolidX Bitcoin Trust proposed the ETF. The Cboe’s filings indicate that the ETF would invest solely in bitcoin and shares in the tool would reflect the coin’s price. This is VanEck's third attempt to create a bitcoin investment vehicle. -COINDESK
