1. LedgerX has created an index to track bitcoin's volatility. Called the LedgerX Volatility Index (LXVX), the tool will provide a gauge for investors to help better inform their trading decisions. LXVX will draw its data from LedgerX's option marketplace, CEO Paul Chou said. The index will show how much bitcoin can move to the upside or downside over the next month, showing the degree to which a trader could lose or gain on their crypto bet. While bitcoin has had periods of stability in the past six months, it is still three times as volatile as stocks. –THE BLOCK CRYPTO

2. Americans lost $1.7 billion on bitcoin last year, according to Credit Karma. While the losses are not surprising as the price of bitcoin fell throughout the year, there may be a bright spot. Some of those crypto losses can be counted against their taxes. "Even though those who sold their bitcoin at a loss can typically claim a tax deduction we found that before taking our survey, 61% of respondents who lost money on bitcoin didn't actually realize they could get a tax deduction for bitcoin losses," said Jagjit Chawla, general manager of tax at Credit Karma. –MARKET WATCH
