1. The cryptocurrency markets continued to surge on Tuesday, as bitcoin briefly eclipsed $4,000 per coin in posting a 40-day high. Following strong gains on Monday, the top 20 cryptocurrencies had all see price increases as of late morning. The cryptocurrency market capitalization now stands at $135 billion after having been stuck at $120 billion for nearly two weeks. As always, it can be difficult to pinpoint a singular reason for the price increase. However, Coin Telegraph notes that data from the latest round of the trade negotiations between the United States and China may have brought some optimism to the larger financial markets. –COIN TELEGRAPH

2. The price of EOS jumped 30 percent in less than 24 hours with trading volume more than doubling to $2.2 billion, its highest total since June 2017. The market cap for EOS went above $3.3 billion, allowing the coin tosurpasslitecoin as the fourth largest cryptocurrency. News BTC looked at the EOS Reddit page and did not find any major factor driving momentum outside of cryptocurrency FOMO. However, Dappradar showed that both EOS and Tron dApps were performing well, at least when it comes to user volume. –NEWS BTC

3. The new Tippin.me program allows people to tip Twitter users with bitcoin over the Lightning Network. While still in development, the project created by Sergio Abril is functional. It can be installed as a browser extension that allows users to see a new tipping button on Twitter tweets, serving as a way for content creators to be paid. Tippin.me will be most visible on Twitter, but users can also place a web button on personal websites or blogs to receive tips in a similar fashion. For those that want to be a tipper, they must first set up a Lightning Wallet and fund it will a small amount of cryptocurrency to get started. –CRYPTO NEWS

4. Bitcoin payment processor BitPay conducts more than 95 percent of its transactions in bitcoin, a major change from just two years ago. At that time, CEO Stephen Pair said the blockchain stopped working for his company. "We have a couple of options: one is we start using a fork of Bitcoin, the second option is we start using a fork of Bitcoin and the third option is we start using a fork of Bitcoin," he said at the time. The reasoning might actually be simple: The fees of bitcoin transactions have dropped sharply before since that time. –BITCOINIST
