1. A Canadian court has granted QuadrigaCX a 30-day stay against lawsuits as it looks for answers on how to retrieve the $137 million in inaccessible cryptocurrency following its CEO Gerald Cotton's alleged death. The court order comes as more details have emerged about QuadrigaCX's operations. Bloomberg reports that Cotton filed a will 12 days before his reported death in India from Crohn's disease. The will names his wife, Jennifer Robertson, as the only beneficiary and the executor to his state. ZeroNoncense, a blog (with a non-working "contact us" page) that writes about crypto, published an analysis that claims QuadrigaCX used a wallet cluster technique that allowed it to pit traders' positions against one another to fulfill deposit and withdrawal requests. –NEWS BTC

2. Google has quietly added the bitcoin and ethereum blockchains to Google's big data platform, BigQuery. The addition, along with the creation of a suite of custom software tools, will make it easier for anyone to search the blockchain. The project, known as Blockchain ETL (extract, transform, load) has become a word of mouth hit. Previously, searching the blockchain meant using a block-explorer to retrieve data on a known individual transaction number. Google's tool allows for more generalized searches. "In the future, moving more economic activity on chain won't just require a consensus level of trust," said Allen Day, the lead developer on the project. "It will require having some trust in knowing about who it is you're actually interacting with." –FORBES

3. Facebook's acquisition of Chainspace has reignited questions about what exactly the social media giant plans to do with cryptocurrency in blockchain. Facebook has kept silent, giving The Next Web a non-answer when pressed for the company's blockchain plans. Here is what is known: Facebook launched a blockchain group last May. In December, the company posted blockchain-related job announcements, as reports surfaced the company may create its own digital coin. And … that's about it. Any thoughts on what Facebook is doing? 4. Binance Coin (BNB) saw its price jump 22 percent on Tuesday as the digital currency cracked the top 10 in market cap. Yashu Gola at CCN said BNB started to gain momentum in mid-December. The growth coincided with the growth of Binance Launchpad, a token launch platform that recently completed the token sale of BitTorrent's new coin. Binance also recently confirmed the launch of another project, Fetch.AI, which supports an economic internet model powered by AI, machine learning, and blockchain. That ICO is currently scheduled for February 25. –CCN
