With the Mainnet up and running, all teams are completely immersed in making æternity the blockchain of choice for developers, æpp creators, artists and users alike. So much is happening that we found it hard to summarize it in a single newsletter. But we did our best. :) Check out some of the most interesting æternity-related news that was shared in January, 2019. | | End of Migration Phase 1 Before the scheduled February fork of the æternity network is executed, Phase 1 of the Token Migration must end. This will happen on February 15, 2019 | 11:59:59 PM CET. We are happy to announce that users can now go to migrate.aeternity.com and use their Ledger Nano S hardware wallets to migrate their AE tokens. We have dedicated a blog post to the subject. You can access it by clicking the button below. | | Introducing Ledger Nano S Support As promised, Ledger Nano S support was announced a few days after the New Year began. AE users can now store their Mainnet AE tokens safely on a Ledger hardware wallet. There is also a community-created video guide on how to use the Ledger Nano S with æternity's native token. | | Starfleet 2019: Open Call for Projects We are thrilled to announce that the application process for the second round of æternity's Starfleet accelerator program is now officially open! Any blockchain startups willing to realize their decentralized application ideas on the scalable and efficient æternity platform are very welcome to apply. The deadline is February 17, 2019. | | æternity Invests in weiDex January saw a direct investment of $100,000 USD in weiDex, a decentralized exchange. The weiDex team will develop the first decentralized exchange on the æternity blockchain, utilizing the protocol's unique technological stack and the Sophia smart contract language. We are ultimately looking forward to having an Exchange æpp! | | The Two Foundations Within the last two months, æternity has launched two foundations, one in Liechtenstein and one in Bulgaria, that will provide grants and educational support to blockchain projects on the cutting edge of innovation. The Liechtenstein foundation will commence by providing grants of up to one million CHF, paid in cryptocurrency, to projects that do research and development in the areas of blockchain technology, cryptography, and mathematics. You can read the dedicated blog post by clicking below. | | World Cryptonomic Forum In January, æternity kick-started the World Cryptonomic Forum — an annual series of events dedicated to the socioeconomic impact of blockchain technology. The Forum will provide an international stage for innovators, tech pioneers, economists and decision-makers who are interested in a new fundament for our digital economy based on scalable, efficient and transparent cryptographic data structures. A number of great content pieces, tutorials and contests have already been shared in the first month of 2019. - Hans Svensson, one the senior Erlang developers in the team, shared his thoughts on syntax, scams and Solidity in a short interview, published in the blog. - The game Gomoku was implemented on æternity as one of the first hands-on examples of the production-ready state channels. Find out more in the blog.
- æternity's Middleware was introduced as a fundamental tool for æpp developers. It is a caching layer which allows to interact with the æternity blockchain more efficiently. Check this and this for more on the topic.
- æternity's friends from hack.bg explored the Sophia smart contract language and prepared a great tutorial.
- More tutorials were added to dev.aepps.com!
- A contest dedicated to the Ledger Nano S integration with the Base æpp was organized.
- The winners in the Dashboard contest were announced.
- forgae, an æternity framework which helps with setting up an æpp project, was launched and tutorials were published. Access them here.
