Robinhood raises $280 million in Series F funding round.
Led by venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, the stock and crypto trading app had been seeking to raise $250 million at a valuation of $8 billion. Yesterday's announcement has seen the platform surpassing its goals at a valuation of $8.3 billion. Other participants involved in the Series F include NEA, Ribbit Capital, 9Yards Capital, and Unusual Ventures. Robinhood supports crypto coins such as Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin. With the additional funds, Robinhood will invest in scaling its platform, build new products, and boost the build-out of its operations. This means hiring new staff across its offices, including its newest in Denver.
