MoneyGram announced bitcoin services/ Papa John's offering free BTC ahead of BTC Pizza Day/Fresh Funding

MoneyGram announced it would begin accepting bitcoin through a partnership with Coinme. Users of the money transfer firm will be able to buy bitcoin and withdraw in cash at MoneyGram kiosks around the U.S. starting later this week. More: Coinme will serve as the proprietary exchange for MoneyGram's services and will further provide its custody technology. Coinme is the second-largest bitcoin ATM operator in the U.S. and recently partnered with kiosk manufacturer Coinstar to set up machines in grocery stores throughout the U.S. MoneyGram has previously partnered with Ripple with plans to use XRP for foreign exchange settlement. The deal, however, was mutually suspended amid the prolonged SEC action against Ripple.

Papa John’s is offering free bitcoin to U.K. customers ahead of Bitcoin Pizza Day. The pizza chain made history back in 2010 when a Papa John’s pizza became the first item ever bought with bitcoin. More:  On May 22, 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz famously purchased two Papa John’s pizzas for 10K BTC (~$541M).  Hanyecz apparently does not regret his decision. He told Bitcoin Magazine that the transaction was like “winning the internet” and still considers it free pizza. The deal offers $21 in BTC for any Luno app user with an order above $42.

Metis’ first funding round was led by Block Dream Fund and Master Ventures, with other participants including Autonomy capital, Genblock Capital, Consensus Lab, AU21, M6, Lotus Capital, Oasis, Capital, CDF, and others. Sky Mavis, NFT/Gaming: $7.5M. Libertus Capital led the Series A funding round for NFT game developer Sky Mavis with participation from Mark Cuban, Alexis Ohanian, Kevin Lin, BlockTower Capital, and others.
