Bitcoin 2021 in Miami began today. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, MicroStrategy Michael Saylor, and Miami’s Mayor Francis Suarez are expected to speak on the inaugural day of the conference. A live stream of the event can be found here. More: The event is expected to have more than 50K attendees, spread out across multiple event stages. The “Nakamoto Stage” will feature prominent speakers including Nick Szabo (BitGold), Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss (Gemini), and former U.S. regulators Chris Giancarlo and Brain Brooks. Bitcoin Magazine has hosted the Bitcoin conference since 2012. While initially set to take place in LA, Bitcoin 2021 moved to Miami to support Mayor Francis Suarez' campaign to turn the city into the world’s crypto capital.

SpaceX, in collaboration with SpaceChain, transported an Ethereum node to the International Space Station. Nexus provided an installation solution necessary for an Ethereum node to operate onboard the station. More: SpaceChain builds blockchain protocols and networks in space for companies looking for ‘space-as-a-service.’ The launch of CRS-22 with SpaceX marks SpaceChain’s first commercial launch. SpaceX plans to use its Falcon 9 rocket for a trip next month, carrying three more nodes created by Biteeu, Divine, and Nexus Inc.

🍋Fresh Funding🍋 Snickerdoodle Labs, NFT/Privacy: $2.3M ⮕ The seed funding round was led by Kenetic with participation from Blockchain Capital, Struck Ventures, Zilliqa Capital, FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, Tribe Capital, and Zinal Growth. More: Snickerdoodle offers NFT technology to build platforms that secure user privacy and data. The startup was founded by Jonathan Padilla, a former head of blockchain strategy at PayPal. Snickerdoodle announced plans to hold a token offering sometime this summer to obtain further capital for development. Unchained Capital, BTC services: $25M ⮕ The Series A funding round was led by NYDIG and parent company Stone Ridge, with participation from Ecliptic Capital, Starting Line, Stronghold Resource Partners, TVP Bitcoin Venture Fund, Ten31, and Platform Ventures. More: Unchained Capital is a BTC-focused financial services firm offering custodial and investment services. NYDIG has also committed to an incremental lending commitment of $100M and will continue its relationship as Unchained’s principal funding partner. Unchained and NYDIG plan to offer services where each partner holds keys in a collaborative custody arrangement to further security for institutional investors.
