A DAO is buying the Constitution?

A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) has been formed to buy a copy of the United States Constitution. Constitution DAO has raised $3M in committed funding on Juicebox in <12 hours and an additional $10M in soft commits to buy the only remaining privately-owned copy of the Constitution still in existence.  More: The DAO also features a Discord community with ~8,000 members. The auction will be held live at Sotheby's Thursday at 6:30 pm ET., with the winning bid expected to be between $20M-$50M. Barbados is working with multiple companies to help it become the first sovereign nation with an embassy in the metaverse. The country's government is finalizing agreements with Decentraland, Somnium Space, SuperWorld, and other Metaverse platforms to establish its digital embassy. More: The digital facilities will provide services like  "e-visas" and a "teleporter," allowing users to transport their avatars between various worlds. The country intends to aggressively build structures and purchase digital land in a variety of virtual worlds. This represents a large step for the legitimization of the metaverse.

Paradigm, a firm launched by Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam and former Sequoia partner Matt Huang, has closed on $2.5B to invest in crypto projects. The new fund will invest alongside Paradigm's existing flagship fund across all stages and geographies. More: The fund is the largest crypto-focused investment vehicle — topping a16z's $2.2B fund. Paradigm's current portfolio includes top names like FTX, Coinbase, and Maker, among others. Paradigm will continue its traditional early-stage focus but will also make later-stage investments out of the new fund.

The founder of stablecoin protocol MakerDAO, Rune Christensen, has joined Dragonfly Capital as a venture partner. Dragonfly backed Maker back in 2019 and also holds investments in notable crypto projects Compound and 1Inch. More: MakerDAO is the largest decentralized finance protocol today by TVL — $20B. MakerDAO was the first DeFi protocol to cross $1B in TVL. Christensen will split his time between Dragonfly and MakerDAO.
