MLB's Washington Nationals ink deal with Terra

Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals are exploring a partnership deal with Terra's UST stablecoin. There is already a deal in place that centers around naming rights for the ballpark's home plate VIP lounge to be called the "Terra Club" and have its branding prominently displayed over the next five years.  The new wrinkle is for fans to be allowed to use UST to make purchases inside Nationals Park. More: The Terra DAO overwhelmingly voted in favor of the sponsorship deal without knowing the team they would be sponsoring. The deal is valued at $40M. The Nationals' acceptance of UST payments will make it one of the few but growing members of professional sports teams accepting crypto payments. The NBA's Dallas Mavericks began accepting Dogecoin last year The NBA's Sacramento Kings were accepting Bitcoin back in 2014. MLB already has a sponsorship deal in place with the global crypto exchange FTX that features its logo on umpire uniforms.

The Shiba Inu protocol will soon offer plots of virtual land in a new metaverse, and the news of that caused its ecosystem tokens SHIB and LEASH to jump. The "Shiba Lands" will be available for purchase or auction using LEASH tokens. More: The metaverse does not yet have an official name, but developers are referring to it as the Shibverse. The protocol's developers are working on a queue system that will help prevent bots and gas wars. The announcement contained no reference to what part the original SHIB token will play in the Shibverse.
