The U.S. government has given federal agencies a 30-day deadline to delete TikTok from their devices. The use of TikTok in federal agencies was banned in December 2022. More: - Within a 90-day period, all federal agencies must declare that TikTok cannot be used on devices, and they must cancel any existing contracts that require the app's use.
- 120 days after this notice has been published, all federal agencies must submit the number of exceptions approved regarding the use of the social media app.
- Most exceptions are likely to be in cases when it is believed that using the app could benefit national security, as stated in the directive.
Zoom Out: - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced yesterday that the country is banning TikTok from all government-issued mobile devices.

Gmail and Google Calendar have added client-side encryption as a security feature for all users. The feature was previously tested with a limited number of users. More: - From now, Workspace Enterprise Plus users can send emails, receive emails, and create meeting events more safely because they are encrypted before reaching Google's servers.

Hackers are cyberattacking law firms increasingly more in 2023, according to an industry report. GootLoader and SocGholish are the two malware variants being used in these cyberattacks. More: - The hackers are targeting vulnerable WordPress websites and adding new blog posts without the owners' knowledge.
- The hackers then use SEO poisoning to direct as many targets as possible toward the infected websites.
- Once the target enters an infected web page and hits the link to download the business agreement, GootLoader begins being installed on the device.
