1. Square Cash continues to grow even as the price of bitcoin has declined. Square has aligned its Cash app closely with bitcoin in recent months, allowing customers to more easily use the cryptocurrency for transactions. Bitcoin has helped the app grow, but new analysis from Nomura Instinet argues Square Cash can succeed even without bitcoin. 2. HTC’s blockchain-powered phone, the Exodus, will be released by the end of the year. Phil Chen, HTC's chief content officer, said the phone will be comparable in cost to the Finney, the world’s first blockchain-powered phone, which costs around $1,000. HTC has seen slumping sales in the past year and recently laid off 1,500 employees.
