1. The price of bitcoin jumped above $6,700 per coin on Friday for the first time in two weeks. Bitcoin's increase led an overall rally in the cryptocurrency market. The big winner, though, has been Ripple XRP, which has risen more than 68 percent this week alone. Stellar, tezos and cardano have also posted gains between 15 and 18 percent. The market cap for all cryptocurrencies is around $217 billion. –COIN TELEGRAPH

2. The US Securities and Exchange Commission has asked for more feedback on an ETF proposal from Van Eck Securities and SolidX Management. The SEC has already received more than 1,400 comments on the proposal, but plans to give commenters another three weeks to submit thoughts. The SEC has rejected previous ETF proposals over fears of bitcoin price manipulation. The agency wants to hear more views on the forces that effect the crypto market. –BLOOMBERG

3. Five Republican representatives have written a letter urging the agency to update its guidance on federal tax obligations tied to cryptocurrencies. The group of lawmakers previously sent the IRS a letter expressing concern over the agency's decision to ramp up enforcement of cryptocurrency-related violations without adopting a "comprehensive virtual currency strategy." The lawmakers argue the IRS has not clarified its crypto strategy. The letter was signed by Kevin Brady (R-Texas), David Schweikert (R-Arizona), Lynn Johnson (R-Kansas), Darin LaHood (R-Illinois), and Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio). –CCN

4. Amaury Sechet, the lead developer behind Bitcoin ABC, believes cryptocurrency forks will slow down considerably in the future. Sechet argued that each fork leads to the loss of the network effect in the original blockchain, reducing the ability to create future value. He added that the best forks come from compelling arguments that create interesting new chains. There are only so many projects, though, that can maintain that level of interest. –COINDESK
