1. Happy birthday, bitcoin. The world's most famous cryptocurrency turns 10 today. While the coin did not officially appear until January of 2009, the famous white paper written by Satoshi Nakamoto was authored on October 31, 2008. As CNBC explains, bitcoin has seen a lot of growth over the past decade. It grew from an anti-establishment hobby to a global phenomenon last year. –CNBC

2. Coinbase officially announced a $300 million funding round that values the company at more than $8 billion. The deal marks a massive increase from its previous valuation of $1.6 billion in August 2017. Tiger Global Management led the Series E round, with participants including Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator Continuity, Wellington Management and Polychain. –CNBC

3. A large number of dormant wallets have likely contributed to bitcoin's low volatility in recent months. A report from BitInfoCharts claims that nearly 10 percent of all bitcoin wallets have remained dormant over the past year, including one wallet with the seventh known amount of bitcoin. The number of dormant wallets has grown as well, doubling to more than 15.8 million in the same time. –MARKET WATCH

4. A Bitcoin Embassy has opened in Keene, New Hampshire. The facility, located inside a gift shop, will offer classes for individuals and businesses looking to learn about cryptocurrency. This is the second Bitcoin Embassy to open in the United States. The first one opened in Atlanta. While New Hampshire may seem like an odd fit, Keene is believed to have one of the highest per capita number of businesses that accept bitcoin in the world. –NHPR.ORG
