Canadian Markets The TSX was down on Thursday, with energy stocks leading losses. - The TSX energy sector dropped 2.58%, almost twice as much as any other subgroup.

European Markets European stocks fell on Thursday amid negative investor sentiment. - The Stoxx 600 lost 1% on the day and all sectors ended in the red.
- The automotive industry fell by 2.7%, leading losses, while tech stocks were down 2.6%.
- The U.K.'s GDP contracted by 0.3% in Q3 2022, the Office for National Statistics said.

Asian Markets Stocks were up on Thursday following the publication of strong consumer confidence polling data in the U.S. - Stocks in both Australia and China saw gains after the countries' governments issued a joint statement saying that they will seek to improve bilateral relations.
- Hong Kong stocks were up after the Securities Commission promised to help support the real estate industry, which has been negatively impacted by the decline of the financial industry.
- The IMF believes that the yield curve adjustment by the Bank of Japan will benefit the country's economy.

Commodities Oil prices were down during a volatile trading session on Thursday. - Investors were balancing the impact of a severe winter storm in the U.S., more interest rates by the Federal Reserve, and rising COVID-19 cases in China.
- Brent lost 1.5% on the day and U.S. West Texas Intermediate dropped 1%.
- Nearly 2,000 flights across the U.S. have been canceled due to the winter storm, which means demand for fuel around the holiday period will decrease.
