14 U.K. schools have been hacked by the Russian-speaking hacker group Vice Society. Reports claim that student data has been leaked as a result of the breach. More: - The leaked data includes:
- children’s SEN information,
- passport scans,
- staff pay scales,
- and contract details.
- The information was leaked by the hackers after the breached schools refused to pay ransom to the hacker group.
- The names of the schools that were hacked include:
- Carmel College, St Helens;
- Durham Johnston Comprehensive School;
- Frances King School of English, London/Dublin;
- Gateway College, Hamilton, Leicester,
- Holy Family RC + CE College, Heywood;
- Lampton School, Hounslow, etc.
- The schools have notified the affected victims and their parents and have given them information on how to proceed.

The disruption of The Guardian's digital infrastructure caused by hackers is set to last one month, according to reports. The company's employees will mostly work remotely until Jan. 23. The Blind Eagle hacker group has resurfaced with two cyberattacks tracked in Colombia and Ecuador. The Spanish-speaking hacker group exclusively targets South American victims. More: - Also called APT-C-36, the group has been active since 2018.
- The group attacks its victims using phishing emails that contain a malicious link that, when clicked, leads to the deployment of an open-source trojan named Quasar RAT.
- This RAT enables the threat actor to access the victim's bank accounts.
- The company has targeted banks such as Banco AV Villas, Banco Caja Social, Banco de Bogotá, Banco Popular, Bancoomeva, BBVA, Colpatria, Davivienda, and TransUnion.
- Researchers believe that Blind Eagle has proven it is primarily focused on financial crimes rather than cyber espionage.

- Positive Sum led the funding round, with participation from Sequoia, Qualcomm, Four Rivers, Northgate, Cascade, Lachy Groom, and XYZ.
