1. The price of cryptocurrencies tumbled early Thursday with a number of major coins, including bitcoin, suffering significant losses. Bitcoin was down more than 10 percent, as ethereum, bitcoin cash, litecoin, and XRP are all seeing double-digit losses. Cardano was the worst performer among top coins dropping more than 18 percent. The drop came over a quick five-hour period. Over the past 24 hours, approximately seven percent has fallen off the total market capitalization of the industry. 2. Bitwise, a cryptocurrency asset management firm, has submitted a bitcoin ETF filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The new filing is for a physically backed bitcoin ETF listed on the NYSE Arca exchange. Bitwise, which had a bitcoin ETF filing rejected in 2018, created this proposal with the SEC's concerns about price manipulation in mind. In particular, Bitwise has proposed using a price index that aggregates data from many of the platforms in the industry. –BITCOINIST

3. French tobacco stores have begun selling bitcoin. With the backing of Keplerk, a French fintech company, six tobacco stores in Paris have begun selling the cryptocurrency. For the stores, it is a way to generate additional revenue as cigarette sales continue to drop. "Some people find it complicated to get bitcoins on-line," Keplerk co-founder Adil Zakhar said. "They trust their local tobacco shop owner more than they would trust some remote anonymous website." While French regulators have warned citizens about buying cryptocurrency, they have not made an effort to stop these stores from selling bitcoin. –REUTERS
