1. Mick Mulvaney, President Trump's incoming chief of staff, has been vocal in his support of bitcoin. In a 2016 speech, Mulvaney said the Federal Reserve had "effectively devalued the dollar" and emphasized that the exercise of such control was not possible with cryptocurrencies because of their decentralized nature. He said bitcoin is "not [able to be manipulated] by any government." How that translates to bitcoin today is yet to be seen, but bitcoin enthusiasts argue it is certainly a positive to have someone pro-bitcoin high in the administration. –CCN

2. A bitcoin millionaire in China rained cash from the top of a building onto one of Hong Kong's poorest neighborhoods. Wong Ching-kit, known online as Coin Young Master and the owner of Epoch Cryptocurrency, threw HK$100 bills, which are worth about $13 USD. Police said that officers at the scene had collected around HK$5,000 ($640 USD). Wong claimed in a Facebook video later that the stunt was aimed at "robbing the rich to help the poor." –SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST

3. The price of ethereum passed the price of bitcoin cash for the first time. Since its creation last year, bitcoin cash had traded above the market price for ethereum, even as the price of ethereum surpassed $1,400 late last year. Ethereum was a number of major coins that saw price increases early Monday. Bitcoin saw a slight jump, while litecoin and EOS both saw nearly double-digit gains. –COIN TELEGRAPH

4. Travala, a blockchain-powered travel site, has added XRP as a payment option. That means customers can now use XRP to book accomodations at more than 500,000 properties from across more than 200 countries around the world. Travala already accepts a number of major cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin and etherehum, but also takes some lesser-used ones such as binance coin and True USD. –CRYPTO NEWS REVIEW
