1. Tether attorney David Miller admitted in court that Tether did use funds from its reserve accounts to invest in bitcoin. Tether's main marketing message was that every Tether token was backed 1:1 by a traditional fiat currency held in its reserves. New York Supreme Court judge Joel M. Cohen stated, "Tether sounded to me like sort of the calm in the storm of cryptocurrency trading. And so if Tether is backed by bitcoin, how is that consistent? If some of your assets are in a volatile currency that Tether is supposed to somehow modulate, that seems like it's playing into what they are saying." -THE NEXT WEB

2. Panama Crypto, an anonymous cryptocurrency Twitter influencer, laid out steps on how to protect your crypto accounts following a rash of hackings.

  • Install anti-virus software on your devices and avoid clicking shady websites or links within emails that are sent to you. Do NOT download anything from unfamiliar places and avoid clicking on random pop-ups.
  • To avoid phishing, legitimate websites should have an SSL certificate installed and make sure you use Metamask. Judgement is the best line of defense and if something seems to good to be true, it probably is.
  • Do not use SMS 2FA. It is to easy for a hacker to port your phone and change your password, get access to your device and divert the SMS code to their own number. Use 2FA products like Google Authenticator or Authy.
  • How to avoid Juice Jacking? Do not plug your phone into mobile USB devices or chargers that are not yours to avoid Juice Jacking, a type of cyber attack where malware might be installed on to, or data surreptitiously copied from, a smartphone, tablet or other computer device using a charging port that doubles as a data connection, typically over USB.

3. From The Forums: Twitter user @stacyherbert tweeted that "Satoshi released bitcoin under the MIT license". This was in response to Craig Wright who attempted to copyright the bitcoin source code as well as the bitcoin whitepaper. @PeterMcCormack responded by saying that, "Craig created MIT" and "..shortly after he sailed the seas and discovered America". 🤣

Peter is poking fun at Wright who claims that he is the creator of bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, which the majority of the community does not believe.

4. Block.one, the company behind EOS, is buying back 10% of stock from private investors, resulting in a 6,567% return for early investors. The buyback values the company at $2.3 billion, up from a $40 million seed valuation in 2017. CEO Brendan Blumer said in an earlier interview with Bloomberg television that "too much transparency into everything that we are doing on an ongoing basis can actually take away a lot of the competitive advantage when we're trying to put out new types of technology." -BLOOMBERG
