Google has stated that the number of Russian cyberattacks against Ukraine is increasing at an alarming rate. The tech giant claims there has been a 250% increase. More: - According to security researchers, there have been more cyber attacks launched against Ukraine during the first four months of 2022 than in the previous eight years.
- Most of these cyber attacks were launched at the beginning of the Russian invasion military campaign.
- The number of phishing attacks targeting NATO countries increased by 300% during the same period.
- Researchers stated that regardless of the many cyberattacks that Russia has launched, it has failed to bring down Ukraine's digital infrastructure so far.

Law enforcement in France and Israel have arrested members of a hacker group, seizing over $40.5M in the process. The group breached French citizens. More: - The hacker group used business email compromise as a threat vector.
- The group's leader was located in Israel.
- Investigations showed that the hacker group had accomplices in Croatia, Portugal, and Hungary who tried to launder the money by depositing it in local banks.
- The funds were laundered in Europe and China before being sent to Israel.

Twitter has announced that SMS two-factor authentication is now available only for Twitter Blue subscribers. More: - The company stated that users who have not subscribed to Blue that use SMS-based 2FA have time until March 20, 2023, to switch to an alternative method.
- According to Twitter, only 2.6% of all active accounts have enabled at least one form of 2FA.
- SMS authentication makes up 74.4% of these accounts.
- Authenticator apps are second at 28.9%, with security keys at 0.5%.
- Accounts can have multiple forms of 2FA enabled at one time.
- SMS-based 2FA authentication is considered the least secure method of MFA, a sentiment that Twitter's CEO Elon Musk has also shared publically.

Samsung has launched a new security feature that protects users from malware-infected image files. The feature will be named Samsung Message Guard. More: - Samsung Message Guard checks the file bit by bit and processes it in a controlled environment to ensure it cannot infect the rest of your device.
- If the file is deemed harmless, it is then allowed to be accessed normally by the user. If not, it is disposed of.
- Samsung Message Guard runs silently and largely invisibly in the background and does not need to be activated by the user.
- The feature is currently being rolled out on Galaxy S23 series devices.

Microsoft has launched a watermarking feature for Azure Virtual Desktop. Only clients that support watermarking can connect to the session host. More: - Users will be able to identify themselves by scanning a QR code.
- The feature is not accessible remotely for security reasons.
- If connected to a session host directly using the Remote Desktop Connection app (mstsc.exe), watermarking is not applied.
