1 | Hatch, a startup launched by software developers and entrepreneurs Darrin Massena and Mike Harrington, officially launched its online marketplace. The marketplace provides no-code website-building templates and tools. More: - Massena and Harrington previously co-founded the online photo editing tool Picnik, which Google acquired in 2020.
- Harrington said, "In terms of no-code website builders, a lot of them are more template-y, and they're kind of stuck in the grid. You can get pretty far pretty fast if you are happy with a certain look. The thing that we do is we get you out of the grid. It's incredibly freeform."
- The platform leverages an AI coder to build out animations and interactions.
- Hatch has a free and paid tier with monthly prices for a Hatch Pro account starting at $9.
- The company is bootstrapped and has 14 employees based in downtown Seattle.

2 | The latest cohort of Y Combinator's accelerator program featured 10 cybersecurity, privacy, and trust startups, per an analysis done by Strategy of Security. What the numbers say: While Y Combinator has reduced the overall batch sizes of its cohorts by 40% since Summer 2022, the number of cybersecurity startups in the cohort has remained relatively consistent. Representation of cybersecurity, privacy, and trust startups peaked at 19 in the Winter cohort of 2022. Relevance: Y Combinator typically offers $500,000 per company, meaning they invested $5.5M of the $100M total in cybersecurity startups. The startups participating in the accelerator were Accend, Affinity, Corgea, Greenlite, Kobalt Labs, Remy Security, SafetyKit, Sero AI, Trench, and Xeol. Why it matters: Considering the two cohorts, Y Combinator makes nearly 20 investments in cybersecurity startups on average, double the 10 average number of investments made by the most active VC firms in the sector. Despite Y Combinator's backing, only two of the 10 startups in the current cohort could raise outside funding. | | |
