Crypto exchange Binance has completed its acquisition of Swipe. Binance said that the acquisition would further the adoption of crypto by "bridging the gap between fiat and digital assets." Price details of the deal were not disclosed. As part of the deal, Binance is listing Swipe's SXP token today, with opening trading for SXP/BTC, SXP/BNB and SXP/BUSD trading pairs. More: BINANCE | |
Users can now send crypto through platforms such as Twitter. Torus, a private key management startup, has enabled this through its latest update, v.1.7.2., which allows users to send crypto assets to any Twitter or GitHub account, even if that user has never logged into the Torus Wallet before, the firm said. Web 3.0 will see a push toward decentralized models. That's according to Kevin Chou, CEO and co-founder at blockchain ecosystem Rally. He said that content platforms should move away from Web 2.0 models that see platforms taking a large share of the revenue and should, instead, create a decentralized model that favors content creators. Chou said that the Web 2.0 era has been about creating a large platform and giving that service away for free while collecting a lot of data. The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that a group of Nigerian nationals who allegedly stole around $17.5m hid some of the proceeds in Bitcoin. The suspects allegedly compromised two Chicago-based firms' business emails by posing as the companies' accountants. The Daily Post reported that they were planning to defraud on a "global scale" that would generate $435m for them. The suspects were arrested in Dubai and have been extradited to the U.S. where they face charges of conspiracy to commit fraud. DECRYPT | |
