Brazil's Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) has banned crypto exchange Binance from offering derivative products in the country. The regulator said that derivative products are securities and that Binance doesn't have "authorization" to offer this type of financial product in Brazil. CVM has ordered Binance to "immediately suspend" the broadcasting of this product. If it fails to comply, Binance could be fined $188 a day. A Binance spokesperson declined to comment. THE BLOCK | |
The subsidiary of crypto exchange Kraken has received an MTF license in the U.K., enabling it to offer derivatives services to institutional investors. Crypto Facilities, which operates under the name Kraken Futures, received, what is believed to be, the first-ever Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF) license in Europe from the U.K.'s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The green light means that Kraken Futures can reach customers on regulated platforms and expand its product offerings. Expedia.com is teaming up with Travala.com to allow travelers to book hotels with crypto. The new partnership means that over 700,000 hotels and accommodations with Expedia are now available on Travala.com, a crypto-friendly accommodation booking platform, which features two million hotels in 230 countries. More than 30 forms of crypto, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin, and AVA – Travala.com's native asset –, can be used. The Afghan Ministry of Health plans to use blockchain to fight counterfeit medication. The ministry is teaming up with blockchain startup Fantom to keep track of pharmaceutical drugs that travel along the supply chain. The aim is to increase controls to prevent fake products from entering. Fantom will provide labels to track 80,000 products manufactured by two Indian pharmaceutical companies – Nabros and Bliss GVS. The pilot project includes 50,000 hand sanitizers, 10,000 joint creams, 10,000 Kofol chewable tablets, and 10,000 Diacare foot creams. If it is successful, Fantom plans to expand the program.
