3. Sen. Steve Daines (R-Montana) has lobbied against closing a coal-fired power plant in the state, arguing it could harm the cryptocurrency mining industry. The plant is currently scheduled to close in 2027. Doing so, Daines argues, would raise energy costs in the state, turning away mining operations. While crypto firms typically set up near renewable energy sources, Montana has vast coal deposits and several coal-fired plants to supply an abundance of cheap electricity. –BITCOIN MAGAZINE

4. Ethereum co-founder Gavin Wood believes ICOs will still be a fundraising tool for crypto-related businesses in the future. However, he thinks that there will be a lot of evolution as to how ICOs operate. According to CoinSchedule, ICOs have raised a total of over $18 billion in the first eight months of 2018 alone, compared to the $6.2 billion raised in all of 2017. There still remains a stigma, though, around ICOs because of the number of scams and project failures that have fallen investors. Adding more trust into the process will be a part of that evolution, Wood said. –NEWS BTC
