The long-awaited launch of Eth2.0's Phase 0 may not go live until 2021, according to a project researcher. Justin Drake, a researcher at the Ethereum Foundation, was asked during an Ask-Me-Anything session on Reddit when Phase 0 would be deployed. In response, Drake – who was a Bitcoin entrepreneur from 2014 to 2017 before becoming an Eth2.0 researcher – said that before Phase 0 is deployed, he'd like to see a public testnet with more than three clients running smoothly for two to three months and a bug bounty program, among others. Drake said that the test is unlikely to start until next year. More: - Back in March, Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, predicted that Phase 0 multiclient testnets would likely go live in April.
- Buterin tweeted in July that in Phase 1 of Eth2.0, a transaction rate of up to 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) could be reached using rollups.

"Libra will never see the light of day." That's according to UC Berkeley professor Barry Eichengreen. Speaking at the Unitize conference, he said that stablecoins, such as Libra, are either too fragile or are too expensive to scale up. Libra remains plagued with issues, including government resistance, he said, adding that he is concerned that it could "undermine the effectiveness of national monetary policies." COINTELEGRAPH

Our Crypto Masterclass features a well-known thought leader or expert in the crypto space. Today, I focus on James Lovejoy of MIT's Digital Currency Initiative, who talks about 51% attacks and how they might not always be evident. He said that at first glance, blockchains don't always show 51% attacks. Speaking at the Unitize conference, Lovejoy said there needs to be an active observer monitoring the network to determine whether an attack has occurred. Without the use of a reorganization tracker, a victim may have already suffered the effects of an attack before the market discovers that foul play has taken place on the blockchain, he said. The industry has long relayed on victims to report attacks but victims aren't always willing to come forward if they lose substantial amounts, said Lovejoy. COINTELEGRAPH
A Romanian man has pleaded guilty for his role in the BitClub Ponzi scheme, which took approximately $722m worth of Bitcoin from investors. Silviu Catalin Balaci, who pleaded guilty via videoconference to a U.S. District Judge, faces a maximum penalty of five years and a fine of $250,000. A sentencing date has yet to be announced. The aim of the scheme was to pool investors' money, with the promise of investing it in crypto mining. Investors were also rewarded for bringing on new recruits to the scheme. According to a statement, Balaci and fellow defendant Matthew Brent Goettsche said they targeted "dumb" investors, referring to them as "sheep." US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
