Kinfo February Edition: Defending the future of crypto in the United States and more

Image

Welcome to Kinfo, your monthly digest of all things Kin!

In January, the Wall Street Journal published an article about the SEC's upcoming vote on whether they will file a suit against Kik for the Kin Token Distribution Event that was held in 2017. While everyone in this industry is dealing with issues related to regulation, it's the one topic no one wants to talk about. We want to change that, so we've decided to make our Wells Response public, and we'll provide updates on the case as it moves forward. Join our case-specific mailing list here, and continue to read Kinfo for additional updates.

Last month, we launched two initiatives to increase developer adoption of Kin. The second Kin Developer Program was announced on Jan. 15, and it will accept up to 100 developers to build Kin-powered experiences into new or existing consumer apps. We gathered feedback from current Kin Developer Program participants, and have modified the program to increase each developer's chances for success. Now, developers will have more development time, more achievable milestones, and access to the new Kin SDK, which offers more flexibility in the ways Kin can be integrated.

We also launched the Kin SDK for Unity (Android beta) to enable Unity developers to easily integrate Kin into their games. We will be launching an iOS version soon, and an incentive program for Unity developers will open in the coming months.

The second Kin Developer Program is now accepting applications

January 17, 2019

We'll be accepting up to 100 developers into the program to build Kin-powered experiences in new and existing consumer apps. Applications are open until March 26, and developers have until May 14 to take their app live on Google Play or the App Store with a verified Kin experience. If you're a mobile app developer interested in building with Kin, apply here!

The Kin SDK for Unity is available on the Unity Asset Store

January 25, 2019

Unity developers can now easily integrate Kin into their games to give users access to more engaging experiences and rewards that matter to them. We've launched the Android SDK in beta, and feedback from developers will be collected before we launch an iOS version soon. Download the Kin SDK for Unity and start building experiences right away.

We're fighting for the future of crypto in the U.S.

January 27, 2019

Crypto regulation is one of the most popular topics in the industry right now, and we're taking on the issue publicly. Four commissioners will soon vote on whether or not to file a suit against Kik and the foundation for the Kin TDE, and we are prepared to prove that Kin is not a security. We are taking this head on, not just for the future of Kin, but to protect innovation in the crypto and blockchain industry overall.
