1. Facebook has acquired Chainspace, a small blockchain startup that has been building a decentralized smart contracts system. This will be Facebook's first acquisition in the blockchain space as the social media giant looks to build out its blockchain capabilities. Researchers from University College London founded Chainspace, which was based off a white paper written in 2017 that outlines a platform for "high-integrity and transparent processing of transactions within a decentralized system." The acquisition comes as Kraken leadership says it is on the cusp of completing a $100 million funding round. Kraken's acquisition, the exact price of which was not disclosed, makes the exchange the first to offer both spot and for cryptocurrenies. 3. The bitcoin community is currently running an Olympic torch-style relay race to highlight the power of the Lightning Network. Called the Lightning Torch, crypto members use Twitter to pass the "torch payment" from one person to another, adding 10,000 satoshis (about $0.34) each time. They then send the payment to the next user via the Lightning Network. The process has also been called the "LN Trust Chain" since the person sending the torch must send it to someone they trust, opposed to keeping the coins for themselves. So far, the torch has been sent to at least 139 people in 37 countries, according to the program's ring leader, Hodlonaut. –COINDESK

4. Child pornography was uploaded to the blockchain for Bitcoin Satoshi's Vision (BSV). The images were posted after a change to the BSV protocol increased the amount of data that could be accepted in transactions was raised 450 times. The increase allowed for images, video, and audio to be stored in the blockchain. "Almost certainly, whoever posted this was trying to prove a point about inserting something illegal into the blockchain, since that content can never be removed," a project spokesperson said. The images were added through BSV's Money Button, a payment app specific to the BSV network. –THE NEXT WEB
