The International Chess Federation (FIDE) will use Algorand's blockchain to record player ratings and titles. According to Algorand, it will record FIDE Online Arena World Chess players’ data while delivering a transparent platform that enables individuals to see game information. Ilya Merenzon, CEO of World Сhess, said that "it's exciting to continue bringing innovation to chess." The use of the blockchain will verify player ratings that aim to produce something that is free from manipulation and fraud. A Chinese blockchain evaluation index doesn't value Bitcoin among the top 10 cryptocurrencies. Published by China’s Center for Information and Industry Development, or CCID, its CCID Global Public Chain Technology Evaluation Index ranked Bitcoin in 12th place with 106.2 points. The test to evaluate crypto includes its features, performance, safety, decentralization, and technology. Those ranked in the top three are EOS with 156.1 points, followed by TRON with 138.43 points, and Ethereum with 136.4 points. The fourth and fifth places were taken up by IOST and LSK with 130.3 points and 119.3 points, respectively. XRP took 14th place with 105 points. Throwback Thursday: Feathercoin Lesser-known altcoin Feathercoin was launched more than seven years ago. In an interview with The Guardian from June 25, 2013, Feathercoin creator Peter Bushnell said that he launched the altcoin – a fork of Litecoin – with the aim of "fostering a small community." Feathercoin is still around, and in April it celebrated its seventh birthday. Back in February, the platform noted on Twitter that the OmniLayer for Feathercoin was progressing on testnet. A Bitcoin Core developer has been awarded a $150,000 grant. HDR Global Trading Limited – the company that runs crypto exchange BitMEX – and OKCoin have teamed up to each award Bitcoin Core developer Amiti Uttarwar $75,000 over 12 months to continue her work on the open-source protocol. She has been contributing since 2009. Uttarwar, who works as a developer for Bitcoin company Xapo, focuses her work on the peer-to-peer (P2P) layer, which has helped to improve the trust model by identifying how nodes reveal information, according to BitMEX. Blockchain platform we.trade has, reportedly, cut its workforce by nearly half due to a lack of funding. we.trade, which has been funded by major banks, including CaixaBank, Deutsche Bank, Erste Group, and HSBC, among others, notified over 12 staff members June 11 that they would be made redundant as their roles were unsustainable, according to an announcement. Sources indicate that problems arose after funding raised from some banks ended up being lower than expected.
