1 | Apple said it will fix the overheating issues found in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max through an upcoming iOS 17 software update. The company attributed the overheating to an iOS 17 bug, increased background activity after setup, and recent third-party app updates overloading the system. More: - Contrary to early reports, Apple ruled out the titanium frame of the Pro models as the source of the heating problem, saying it actually improves heat dissipation compared to other materials.
- Apps like Instagram, Uber, and Asphalt 9: Legends are among those contributing to the overheating, and Apple said it's working with their developers to resolve the issue.
- Instagram introduced a fix in its update released last week.
Zoom out: - Apple assures there is no safety or long-term performance risk, as iPhones have built-in safeguards against overheating.
- The bug is expected to be resolved in iOS 17.1, which is in beta and slated for late October, though Apple could release it sooner via a smaller update.

2 | Tesla fell short of market expectations for its Q3 deliveries, citing production pauses at its factories to accommodate upgrades. Worldwide deliveries fell 6.7% to 435,059 vehicles but still represented a 26.5% increase compared to the same period in 2022. More: - For Q3, analysts were expecting Tesla deliveries to reach 461,000.
- Despite falling short, Tesla has maintained its 2023 volume target of 1.8 million vehicles.
- To reach the goal, Tesla needs to deliver around 476,000 vehicles in Q4.
- The company didn't disclose numbers for its Semi electric truck but delivered some to PepsiCo earlier this year and last year.
- Tesla's updated Model 3 deliveries are set for Q4, and its Cybertruck launch event is scheduled for late 2023.
Zoom out: - To combat the slowing EV market, Tesla aggressively slashed prices this year. While it remains the dominant player in the U.S., consumers are increasingly seeking a wider range of EV options.
- Rival Rivian reported a 23% increase in Q3 deliveries over Q2 and reaffirmed its 2023 production target of 52,000 vehicles.
Q: Given the current climate for EVs, do you believe Tesla can reach its 2023 target of 1.8 million vehicles? Join the conversation here.
A message from our sponsor, Paragon. | | Can't keep up with your customers' requests for integrations? Read this Build vs. Buy: Native Integrations Guide Your B2B SaaS company needs to provide seamless native integrations to sell into the market today. Look at the leaders in every category. HubSpot, Atlassian, Slack - all of these companies built moats around their integration ecosystem. However, the engineering effort required to build and maintain dozens of native integrations is significant, which is why companies backlog these requests. This leaves revenue on the table from the closed lost deals against competitors, churn, and a lack of upsell levers. Embedded integration platforms streamline the integration development process, but adopting one isn't an easy decision - there are tradeoffs you need to consider. Read our in-depth comparison guide below that covers the factors your engineering team needs to consider when making a Build vs. Buy decision. Get the guide

3 | Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella testified today in the U.S. antitrust case against Google, claiming that Google has used unfair tactics to hinder Microsoft's Bing search engine. In the trial, the U.S. Department of Justice has accused Google of unlawfully maintaining a monopoly through multi-billion-dollar deals that keep its search engine the default on mobile devices and browsers. More: - Nadella testified as a witness for the Justice Department during the third week of the potentially 10-week trial.
- On Monday, Nadella rejected Google's argument that changing defaults on computers and smartphones is easy, saying that the concept of real choice in the search engine market is "bogus."
- He argued that Microsoft is stuck in a "vicious cycle" where Google leverages its 90% market share to improve its search results and strengthen its profits, reinforcing its monopoly.
- Nadella said Microsoft has attempted to set Bing as the default search engine on Apple smartphones but was unsuccessful.
Zoom out: - In response, Google's lead lawyer cited instances when Microsoft secured default status on computers and mobile phones, yet users still overwhelmingly preferred Google over Bing.
- Starting in late October, Google will have the chance to call its witnesses.

4 | TikTok is now testing a $4.99-per-month ad-free subscription plan in the U.S. Android Authority spotted code in the TikTok app showing that it has started testing an ad-free subscription tier. More: - The subscription reportedly eliminates ads on TikTok but doesn't remove influencer marketing or sponsorships.
- According to the code, TikTok's paid subscription only offers an ad-free experience and not extra perks like a verification badge.
- TikTok could add more features ahead of a wider rollout.
Zoom out: - Since TikTok relies heavily on ad revenue, it's uncertain if the ad-free tier can replace those earnings.
- TikTok's ad revenue per U.S. user was estimated at $65.80 in 2022, and is projected to reach $112.94 in 2024.
