1. E*Trade may soon allow cryptocurrency trading, starting with support for bitcoin and ether. With over 4 million accounts,  E*Trade will be one of the largest security brokers to allow cryptocurrency trading. The company is currently finalizing a deal with a third party to custody and hold the cryptocurrencies, Nathaniel Popper at The New York Times tweeted, although he did not say which company. Support for more cryptocurrencies may be added in the future. -BLOOMBERG

2. Port of Rotterdam, the largest port in Europe, is set to start testing a blockchain-powered energy trading platform. The city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands announced 18 months ago that it created a blockchain development group called Blocklab. The energy trading platform will coordinate the supply and demand of energy allowing companies at the port to choose their energy supplier depending on the time of day, availability, and cost. The introduction of smart contracts on the blockchain will allow this process to be automated to increase efficiency throughout. -THE NEXT WEB

3. The Indian government met to discuss a complete ban on the issuance and trading of cryptocurrencies. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has told the Indian Department of Economic Affairs that most cryptocurrencies operate as Ponzi schemes to defraud investors. The Department of Economic Affairs, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs and the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority have all endorsed the idea of a complete ban on the sale, purchase, and issuance of all types of cryptocurrency. -ECONOMIC TIMES

4. Jaguar Land Rover has partnered with IOTA to reward its drivers with cryptocurrency in return for data. The car company is developing smart wallet technology that will reward its drivers if they automatically report useful data or participate in its ride-sharing program. The goal of this partnership is for Jaguar to gather better and more real-time information on road conditions and vehicle performance. The price of IOTA jumped almost 20% after the news of this partnership was released. -REUTERS
