æternity's Lima Hardfork Activates Today! + Cumulative Update for Summer 2019

It was a busy summer for the æternity community. The Universe One event & the Lima hardfork were the main focuses of efforts. But there was much more!

Dear community, Throughout the summer the entire æcosystem has been getting ready for a pivotal moment in the history of the project - the æternity Universe One conference. Now, a few weeks after the event, it is time to update you on the most important news coming from æternity in the past three months, including some Universe One highlights. TODAY at 01:00 PM CET: æternity's Third Scheduled Hardfork Kicks In  The Lima hardfork of the æternity protocol will activate at block height 161150. That height is expected to be reached today around 01:00 PM CET. The æternity mining community is welcome to update their nodes to the latest Lima Release and support this major upgrade.  Lima will introduce a significantly improved virtual machine - the Fast æternity Transaction Engine (FATE), an on-chain governance æpp, and auctions for renting names in the æternity Naming System (AENS). Update your nodes by clicking below. DOWNLOAD LIMA RELEASE 5.0.1 The æternity Universe One Conference Was Awesome! Hundreds of developers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and artists attended the conference and exchanged knowledge and ideas. The developer track featured over 30 inspiring sessions, while the entrepreneur-focused one consisted of over 40 talks. The latter were dedicated to æternity blockchain use-cases, startup funding opportunities, regulation and taxes, and community building. WATCH ALL UNIVERSE ONE VIDEOS Phase 3 of AE Token Migration Ended on September 2, 2019 As scheduled, the smart contract that managed all Ethereum AE tokens expired on Sept 2, 2019 at 07:56:09 PM UTC, ending Phase 3 of token migration. It is no longer possible to do any ERC20 AE token transactions. If you haven't migrated your AE tokens to the Mainnet, there is a good chance that you will be able to claim them after the successful activation of the Lima Mainnet Release. Read it here. æternity Ventures' new look was debuted at the conference in Prague. æternity Ventures has been rebranded to AE Ventures. Of course, this rebranding comes with a cool new website and logo. Startups from more than 100 cities around the world already applied in the third edition of the Starfleet accelerator program for blockchain projects. He expressed the opinion that only education could remedy the situation, which is why æternity has partnered with Dacade for an earn-as-you-learn course. Ulf Wiger talked to Investing.com on the topic of æternity's state channels and why they are reasonably farther along compared to other projects' implementations. Ulf also did an interview with TechBullion where he shared his thoughts on the evolution of disruptive technologies. æternity's Tobias Lindahl was featured in Forbes where he discussed Erlang and its advantages. AE Ventures announced two major partnerships in July: one with MVP Workshop—creators of a "crypto gift card" prototype on top of æternity as a proof of knowledge; and another with Crowdholding, who will support the Starfleet teams in the process of fine-tuning their products and business models. A bounty for new æternity T-Shirts and Stickers designs was announced in August.
