Decentralized finance (DeFi) has great potential but security remains a challenge, according to a blockchain executive. Richard Ma, the CEO and founder of blockchain security startup Quantstamp, said that security is important to DeFi's growth. Speaking at the Unitize digital conference, Ma reflected on how the industry has grown from $700m in December 2019 to its current $2bn, adding that this illustrates a desire for a different financial system. According to Ma, one of the biggest attack angles is through undercollateralized loans. This is when hackers boost assets temporarily before moving them to a lending protocol and then borrow a different asset with the manipulated price. COINTELEGRAPH
The CENTRE Consortium has blacklisted an Ethereum address holding $100,000 in the USDC stablecoin after responding to a law enforcement request. The Circle-Coinbase founded organization, which issues the dollar-pegged stablecoin, confirmed the move. However, a Circle spokesperson said they couldn't provide any specifics as to the reasons behind the blacklisting, which took place in mid-June. A transaction viewed through blockchain explorer Etherscan shows that CENTRE called a "blacklist(address investor" function on an address, which froze all coins in it. It's not known who owns the address. COINDESK
