The U.S. House passed H.R. 1602 yesterday, focusing on regulatory clarity for cryptocurrencies. H.R. 1602 looks to clarify the roles of the SEC and CFTC in regulating cryptocurrencies and sets out to answer the question of whether crypto is a security or a commodity.  More: Now that the bill is approved, Congress has 90 days to establish a working group consisting of members from the SEC, CFTC, and the private sector. The working group will focus on cybersecurity, private key management, and investor protection and issue their findings following a one-year analysis of the current regulatory climate. Regulatory clarity surrounding crypto in the U.S. is hazy at best. This bill marks one of the first federal efforts to provide a working framework for the over $2T industry.

Purpose Ether ETF, the first Ethereum-based ETF, begins trading today. The ETF created by Purpose Investments is available on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). More: The fund will invest directly into physically settled ethereum, allowing the ETF price to reflect the price of ETH without premiums to its NAV. Purpose Ether ETF currently has $26.46M in AUM and a NAV of $10.61 (CAD). Purpose’s launch of Purpose Ether ETF comes after the successful launch of Purpose Bitcoin ETF (BTCC). BTCC reached over $1B in AUM just weeks after launch and recently hit an ATH of 18.5K BTC in holdings on Monday.
