Canadian Markets The Federal Government has given Alberta $10M to support the growing hydrogen industry in the province. - The funds are expected to help support 1,600 jobs in Alberta, including training and product testing.
- The decision comes as conservative politicians criticize the federal government for wanting to phase out oil jobs without creating alternative employment.
- The federal government says the funds will help the country transition away from oil and gas. Most of the money is earmarked for Edmonton, the province's hydrogen hub with more than two dozen hydrogen and hydrogen-related projects under development.

Cryptocurrency According to a Coindesk report, more than 33% of all U.S. Senators and House Representatives have received campaign donations or support from Sam Bankman-Fried or other senior executives at bankrupt crypto exchange FTX. - FTX executives have donated funds to 196 members of Congress, including high-level members of both parties, such as Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
- Representative Lou Correa (D-CA) received the maximum individual contribution of $2,900 directly from Sam Bankman-Fried but claimed to have never spoken with or met him.
- Some lawmakers have already donated the exact amounts they received to charities in an attempt to distance themselves from Bankman-Fried. Others said that after consulting with the U.S. Department of Justice they are prepared to put the FTX funds aside so that they can be used to compensate victims of the default.
