European Markets European stocks rose on Friday, benefiting from the positive momentum in international markets. - The Stoxx 600 gained 0.9% on Friday, led by a 3.6% increase in automotive stocks.
- European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said a 50-basis-point interest rate hike is likely this month as the bank focuses on bringing inflation back to the 2% target.
- Volkswagen surged 11.2% after the carmaker shared a higher-than-expected forecast.

Asian Markets Asian markets were up on Friday after a U.S. Federal Reserve official said he favored a 25-basis-point interest rate hike. - New data shows that the services industry in China increased its growth rate from January to February.
- The Nikkei said it plans to alter the Nikkei 225 index, adding Oriental Land, Renesas Electronics, and Japan Airlines while removing Toyobo, Nippon Light Metal, and Toho Zinc.
- Factory activity in India continues growing, with the country's domestic market accounting for the additional demand.

Commodities Oil prices closed up on Friday after falling earlier in the day. - Prices dropped after rumors that the United Arab Emirates was planning to leave OPEC so that it could increase its oil production. Reuters later reported that the rumors were untrue.
- Brent gained 0.9% on Friday and U.S. West Texas Intermediate rose 1.3%. Both benchmarks were up on the week.
- U.S. crude remains cheaper than international crude at $79.20 per barrel versus $85.47 per barrel.

- The British Pound saw further gains, rising 0.4% on Friday to close the week up 0.2% as investors continue to react to the new U.K. and EU deal to regulate trade in Northern Ireland.
