1. The price of litecoin surged more than 14 percent on some exchanges Tuesday as the overall cryptocurrency market gained about $6 billion in market capitalization. Litecoin's price increase coincided with the Venezuelan government's announcement that it will allow cryptocurrency remittance services. The remittance can only be settled with bitcoin and litecoin through the Remesas platform. It allows individuals living outside the country to settle payments with recipients in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. –AMB CRYPTO

2. The Blockstream satellite lets people send a message into outerspace for $0.03 in bitcoinwith the launch of spacebit.live. As expected, the messages express a range of – umm – creativity. One user wrote a poem to the Lightning Network, another sent Pepe the frog, while another wrote lines of gibberish followed by the handle for "Dandarkpill," a crypto Twitter member who disappeared from the social site a few weeks back. The messages are sent across the world but also out into the unknown, essentially a cosmic "message in a bottle" as Coindesk writes. Have you sent a message via the Blockstream satellite? Let us know what you wrote and why by hitting reply to this email. –COINDESK

3. Parity CEO Jutta Steiner believes the recent ethereum hard fork could help unfreeze the more than $60 million in ethereum the company accidentally locked in 2017. Steiner argues the Constantinople hard fork, which included the CREATE2 upgrade, would have prevented her company from freezing the digital coins had it existed back then. "So if you think now, okay, we introduced and sort of fixed the tooling, then wouldn't it be the right thing to do to also fix the issues that arose when we didn't have the tooling?" she said. Ethereum developers have rejected pleas to create a hard fork that would unfreeze the coins, arguing it is not in the best interest in the ethereum community as a whole. –FORTUNE

4. Red Cat announced a second Beta of its drone data platform, which stores flight data on the blockchain to guarantee immutability. Red Cat's platform acts in a similar way to the black box on standard aircraft that tracks data about the flight. "People want to be able to have some accountability and trackability to be able to start utilizing our information, whether it's regulators or insurance companies, guys that have to write checks if you do a lot of damage," CEO Jeff Thompson said. Red Cat's platform could be helpful in the case of a crash or security incident, such as when a drone shutdown Gatwick Airport in London last year. –TECH CRUNCH
